I spent an hour on this question before I called my dear partner Shauna (from See My Designs by Shauna) who explained how much of a dumb**** I am for not calling her first.
A very nice friend, Annie, who owns a great jewelry business called Petals and Metals, recently asked a question that had been naggin’ me as well, so I went in search of an answer.
She asked, “Hey, how can I get my picture to pop up next to my comments? I wanna be like everyone …”.
And it occurred to me that I, the owner of the blog, was still using a stock silhouette as my avatar as well. So I looked all through my WordPress settings and options for that glorious place that would allow me to up load my tiny little likeness. And I looked. And I looked. FOR AN HOUR.
But Shauna informs me that it simply isn’t there. She said that if you want to associate your email address with an avatar, you have to do it in one of a few different locations, your choice.
Choice #1: Is the email address you are using for commenting the same one you used to set up an account at Blogger.com? If so, go there, log in, and upload an avatar in your personal settings. Even when you comment on a WordPress Blog, it will find your avatar!
Choice #2: Go to Gravatar.com, which I have just done. Holy easy, Batman. Set up a quick free account, uploaded a pic that reflected my masculine-and-yet-mommy-blogger-panic nature, and voila.
So there you have it, peeps. Insta-Gravatar.

Funny thing is, I’ve had my avatar for a while and had no idea how it got there lol! One day I noticed that any blogs I commented on had my picture next to them. I just thought it was part of the eminent robot take over…
