California Strawberry Tour with TexasHolly

Thanks this morning to The California Strawberry Growers, The California Strawberry Commission, and our very own @TexasHolly (June Cleaver Nirvana) for a fantastic event at the Viking Cooking School in Dallas.

I’m absolutely overflowing in strawberry facts and recipes this morning, and not only did I discover that I want to use the Viking Cooking School event room as my own personal great room, I discovered a million facts about strawberries that had totally eluded me in my first 29 years of life.

ahem.

The most exciting factoid I learned came from a great speaker brought in to talk to us, Dave Grotto, author of 101 Optimal Life Foods. As if speaking the language of single dads everywhere, he confirmed that frozen strawberries are as nutritional as the fresh version. And I mean holy hell, knowing that, Im gonna be putting those suckers in everything.

Congrats to Holly who really did an outstanding job with her own presentation, she pulled it off like she’s been doing it all her life. Ive been making presentations in front of large groups for 20 years now, and I still have to bring a change of underwear each time.

Great to meet some fun Bloggers last night, people I had known of but never had the privilege drinking with, like Conscientious Confusion, MommaDJane, RealPoshMom, Mommys Wish List, Savor The Days, and a couple of personal favorites, Shauna from SeeMyDesignsbyShauna and Mariah from HumphriesNation.

Thanks to those fantastic California Strawberry folks for creating one helluva berry, and to everyone involved for a great event.

    If I do the math:
    Take 29:
“I discovered a million facts about strawberries that had totally eluded me in my first 29 years of life.”
    …minus 20:
“I’ve been making presentations in front of large groups for 20 years now,”
That makes you 9 years old when you made your first presentation. How did you pull off lying about your age for the first 7 years of your career??

  2. Looks like lots of fun! Love strawberries, I do!

  3. Sorry we didn’t get introduced. But I’ve been following your blog for awhile now, and enjoyed all the strawberriness Thursday night as well.
