Fingernail Painting For Daddies.

fingernail painting for daddies

A 42 year old shopping at Justice isn't creepy at all.

(not your nails, genius…hers.)

Today I get to impart some newfound wisdom, and to pay forward a gift I recently received.

A friend recounted for me a long-standing childhood memory of her father cooking for her, and in an ultimate show of masculinity and self-assuredness, painting her nails. And after one afternoon of indecision in a WalMart cosmetic aisle (where I met a very intense transsexual and several security guards), I was ready to take the plunge. Not with the tranny. We’re just gonna be friends.

I recommend getting the following items: Equate brand non-acetone nail polish remover, Any old 99cent nail polish in her fav color, cotton balls, and Onyx Professional 3-2-1 Quick Dry Spray.

I used the cotton balls and polish remover to take off the scraps of her old polish, let them dry, and then went to work painting, somewhere between Picasso and an episode of “This Old House”. And after excruciatingly slowly painting each nail, I sprayed each down with the Quick Dry Spray. I’m not gonna tell you how I knew this to be a crucial step. My counselor says it’s MY past, and I own it.

Her giggles through the project were one thing. Her chattering about nonsensical things was another. But when my daughter looked at my work, and looked up at me, and said, “You do that WAAAY better than Mommy”, I knew we had a new ritual, and a whole new box of memories.

It’s not going to make you any less of a man, tough guy. In fact, in the eyes of many, it’ll make you a better one.

    Thanks, Nic!!
Every guy needs to do some bonding with his daughter like this…insta-hero. I’m comfortable with the title. It’s all I got.

Thanks Jo- I really appreciate it. But I dont need the competition. I know theyre all busy watching football anyway. I can use the head start.

I love that you are starting to do this. I often witness my husband do “un-masculine” type things with our daughters (like doing their nails, doing thier hair, etc …), and the girls have much more fun with it with him then they do with me.

    Good job!
